I still had some pecans left after making the pecan pie tarts. I still can’t get over how tasty the filling of the pecan pie was.
If you have never got a chance to watch Preppy Kitchen, then do. He is an amazing baker and his videos are so easy to follow and he makes the most tempting bakes! When he had posted a recipe for pecan bars and I knew instantly what I wanted to use those leftover pecans for. Unfortunately, his recipe called for corn syrup, which I don’t have, but it’s fine. I went back to my old recipe that used maple syrup.
These bars had a lovey buttery base. I thought this process was much easier and quicker than making a shortcrust pie. Also, the pecan pie mix is so simple and really doesn’t take long. These bars were a hit, who doesn’t like the taste of pecans and maple syrup. I will be making these again if I have an abundance of pecans.
These tasted even more delicious whilst warm and with a scoop of icecream. I had a pecan one form Haagen daaz to make it even more pecany, not as if it wasn’t enough!
